Hyundai Translocal Series: Entangled and Woven is the inaugural exhibition and publication in the Hyundai Translocal Series. It explores connections between Korea, India, and the United Kingdom through the histories, cultures, and material lives of cloth.
Presented in partnership with Hyundai Motor Company, the project has been co-organised by the Whitworth, The University of Manchester, and the Cheongju Craft Biennale 2025, in collaboration with the National Crafts Museum & Hastkala Academy. Across exhibitions in Cheongju, New Delhi and Manchester, newly commissioned works by Boito, Yeonsoon Chang, Young In Hong, Kaimurai, Somi Ko, PERO, Sumakshi Singh, and Jounghye Yoo are presented alongside historic textiles from the Whitworth's collection. Together, they reveal how textile traditions continue to evolve through artistic experimentation, collaboration, and exchange.

Published to accompany the exhibition, this book features installation views of the newly commissioned works across the project's three exhibition venues, essays by Amy George, Boyeun Kim, and Mayank Mansingh Kaul, and interviews with the participating artists. Together, these contributions explore textiles as carriers of memory, knowledge, labour, and exchange, revealing the connections that bind people, places, and histories across generations and geographies.
