Limited Edition screen printed vintage sweatshirt produced exclusively for the Whitworth to coincide with Delaine Le Bas: Unfair Ground.
Produced by local artist Wendy Roby in collaboration with Delaine Le Bas, this limited edition, vintage garment has been hand printed without solvents using water-based inks. Sourced from charity shops and vintage wholesalers it has been laundered using soda ash - an ingredient also used to make avocado printmaking ink.
Wendy Roby is a Stockport artist who specialises in resourceful forms of printmaking. She makes her own inks from food waste and foraged plants and uses discarded packaging and scrap wood for printing plates. Her favourite craft and art processes take unloved materials and transform them into beautiful objects that celebrate the hand of the maker. She has used hand cut paper stencils to print a graphic reinterpretation of Delaine Le Bas' Snow White painting.
