Predominantly sculptural, Kevin Hunt’s work considers alternate social and functional possibilities for everyday objects and architecture through immersive installation, object-making, functional design and increasingly printmaking – often from his own queer and working class perspective.
A colloquial use (or misuse) of language (both verbal and visual) plays a key part in his working process as projects often develop in particular places, working site-responsively. A variety of motifs regularly re-appear in his work such as hole cutting, curving straight lines and the repetition of smudged, blanking-out/white-washing gestures; appropriating these things to talk about his queer experience.
