Produced by the Whitworth, this book is the first publication of its kind, exploring how Constituent Museum Practice and queer theory were used to 'queer' the Whitworth's collection.

This publication is celebrated as a legacy book for (Un)Defining Queer, an exhibition which was on display at the Whitworth from 27th January to 3rd December 2023.

The texts within the book explore what Constituent Museum Practice is and how using this approach to queer museology, in combination with Queer Thoery (Judith Butler, Sara Ahmed et al.), has been instrumental in the development of this participatory exhibition.

The book also contains in conversations with Ajamu X and Sarah-Joy Ford on queering archives, Monica Pearl and Nathaniel Hall on HIV activism, along with in conversations with other curators who have developed queer exhibitions at different museums.
