Florence Paintmakers' watercolour paint contains a high proportion of pigment, along with other natural ingredients including locally-sourced mead, which acts as a preservative.

It will dilute to create the palest of yellow washes but can also be used in a more concentrated way to make a strong ochre colour.  All our products are light-fast.

Florence Paintmakers was formed by a group of four Cumbrian artists and was registered as a co-operative in 2012.  Now their Paintmaker produces hand-made artists’ materials with the haematite from Florence Mine, Egremont, as well as other local pigments derived from Cumbrian minerals.
