Hamja Ahsan Cap - Bue (Kaliphate Fried Chicken) - lumbung Kios

Kaliphate Fried Chicken is part of Hamja Ahsan’s fictional Halal Fried Chicken franchises, original exhibited around Kassel city for the duration of Documenta 15. The name is inspired by Ottoman Empire references in local British and German fast food shops present in the city by muslim migrant. During the 1990s Halal Fried Chicken shops became a hub for Pan-Islamic solidarity groups during the Bosnian genocide. The shop lightbox was originally exhibited on the front entrance of Fridericianum Museum - as critical intervention of classical architecture during Documenta with the LED text "Fried Chicken is in the heart of the believers... The Ummah is one body." in English and Arabic.

Lumbung Kios are exhibiting in Economics the Blockbuster as part of Manchester International Festival. They are a global network of artists forging a self-driven, sustainable economic model for selling their work, and provide merchandise with a purpose.
