Reinaart Vanhoe lives, works and teaches in Rotterdam, where he runs the space ook_ .

The creation of spaces and encounters with people are at the heart of vanhoe's art. In his study Also-Space: From Hot to Something Else (2016) on independent cultural spaces and art collectives in Indonesia and China, he describes his vision of space with the term " also -space": The meaning of space is always relative and depends on the social context. In Rotterdam, the Netherlands, the artist and his partner mariëlle verdijk opened their house and called it the ook_huis – the also house as a free space for neighbors and friends. The artist put an ook_ in front of himself: Working together with others becomes an essential part of artistic identity.
