Framed A6 Postcard of Figure Group: Two Women and a Child by Trevor Tennant, photographed by Michael Pollard.

This terracotta sculpture is currently on display at the Whitworth in the (Un)Defining Queer exhibition. It depicts a moment of intimacy and closeness between two women as they embrace, gazing affectionately at the child. The absence of men, who had been serving in the military, necessitated a restructuring of gender roles in the community. Although we can’t be sure of what the intended relationship between the two women is, Tennant’s sculpture speaks today to people raising children in ways outside of the traditional family.

Frame and postcard produced by King & McGaw, who are leading experts in fine art print publishing based in Sussex.

To ensure their hand-finished frames last a lifetime, King & McGaw select their timber very carefully. Grown in a temperate climate, the raw ash and oak they use comes from sustainably-managed forests in North America, allowing it to mature slowly and achieve a consistent colour and grain.
